Ranch History
Haynes Cattle Co. was started over 30 years when twin brothers Dale and Gale Haynes
graduated from college and started a commercial cow-calf enterprise. Without outside
income, HCC has grown into one of the largest commercial operations in northeast
Colorado/southwest Nebraska. The approach then and now is to select no-frills,
problem free genetics from proven, high accuracy sires.
Using the commercial herds for a compass, the Haynes brothers began building a registered
Angus herd in 1995. With a desire to excel, the pressure was on as they invested in registered
cattle. The goal was to use bulls produced in the seedstock operation in the already successful
commercial herd.
Now, the home raised bulls had to raise the bar and continue the tradition of excellence and
herd improvement. Not all selections met their expectations. But many bulls did reach the bar
and the result is a superior group of home raised Haynes bulls.
Like other commercial producers faced with changing times, Haynes’ demand flexibility in their
genetics. Whether selling cattle at weaning, yearling, or feeding the cattle out, HCC registered
cattle have to supply that flexibility and be profitable.
“We invite interested producers to inspect any offering of beef cattle we have. Whether your
interest is in our registered bulls or females or commercial steers or replacement heifers, your
herd, too, can benefit from our strict, practical approach to breeding Angus cattle.” |
